Finally you have reached the Face-to-Face Interview. This is the most important part of the Interview Process. Your resume meets your persona and needs to produce Results in a finite amount of time.

A true Professional will have rehearsed their Interview Presentation many times before it happens. “If you don’t rehearse and get the Job you will have a JOB, if you do and you Get The Job, you have the beginning or continuation of a Professional Career.” The first question asked from a Manager to your new boss will be, “is he/she promotable, and why not”.

Be early by 30 minutes to site location, take time to review information you have gathered about the Company in the car before entering the building.
Arrive at the Front Desk15 minutes before the Interview. Establish a dialogue with the Greeter.
Do a last minute review of your established Questions, always carry a folder with pen.
Walk confidently into the Interview and make small talk about your surroundings with the Interviewer.
Thank the Interviewer and make an”Impressions Statement”, ” I’m impressed with your Companies location”.
Start by restating your Objective Statement and formulate it to the Position your are Interviewing for.
Don’t let the Resume be the Topic of the conversation. Have an opening Statement rehearsed.
Example, “What type of work related background are you looking for in this position”?
Use your resume as “proof” that you have related experience or that your Education is proof of your ability to learn new Systems.
Explain unrelated positions or gaps of experience, with slight humor and a one line “explanation”, “Well, that was an attempt to learn something new, I soon learned my decision was wrong.”
Handle questions deliberately and continue to get away from the Resume. Ask” What type of Person are you looking for? What qualifications are necessary? What are your expectations of the position?”
Even if you are a non-sales person, you must close the Interviewer for the position. If you don’t the Interviewer will always know you will not “ask for what you want” and will accept what others give you “on the Job:.”
Ask for what you want and you will get it! You should know the definition of “Ass-u-me”.

Simple Resume Tips

Have your Name and Contact Information no more than two font sizes larger than the text.
Make your Objective short and to the point, with a “Result”.
Always keep your Education at the Top of the Resume, under your Objective.
Include courses, seminars, and classes you have attended under Additional Education.
Use BOLD Italic’s to emphasize your Former Positions, lower case your Company.
Give a brief Responsibilities statement or Job Description, under each Former Position.
Follow with 3 statements regarding how you Made $, Saved $ and Saved Time & $, for each Former Position you have held.
Drop all non-professional jobs before your first Career Position or since College.
End with a Summary of your Goals in the next 5 years, in a brief 1 to 2 sentences.

Check your Image, stand tall in a mirror with your Interview Suit or Dress.
Buy a small “steam press” and get all the wrinkles out, wear the same outfit each time.
Match your tie or shirt to the color of your eyes, change tie or blouse only per Interview.
Keep a “Positive Posture” throughout the Interview , chin up!
Buy NEW Heels or Shoes (even if they are cheap) only wear them to Interviews, until you get the Job.
Channel your favorite Actor or Actress when Presenting Yourself.
Act self confident, even if your not.
Be yourself at it’s best, and you will be.
Make it a pleasurable Interview for both of you.
